"Neptune's Wife",color pencils on tinted paper,details.

The thing with color pencils is you don't know as well as with oils if you are "finished" with it or what.On this,I would almost feel like doing an oil version that will give me a chance to deepen the dream about her,but I particularly enjoyed creating the reflective upside down profile formed into her hair, and the shell juxtaposed to her face. The very first version, posted on Facebook, was a quick pencil sketch, and it was so much more raw,an attractive quality I may revisit, like the hole in her head that forms the eye of the profile in her hair, and her mouth,so unconscious of itself like when one is dozing off...

Our Lady of the Rocks or Pagan Heart

New interpretation for a female presence who seems to spring out of some earlier times, before the celebrated Renaissance and with a decisive pagan air to her.Something about the rocks though, those I always admired in the Old Masters paintings (Giotto,Fra Angelico).Shes poses in a well-behaved,almost tamed manner but little-do-we-know her heart is so strong,it is made of stone, maybe the same material as the mountain of rocks behind her.
And her eyes are defiant as she unveils the secret of her Heart.
We don't know who she is.Her gaze is softly hidden by a pair of hands from the sky, holding some fleshy leaves that form her mask.
So well-hidden and yet so vulnerable in her profound nakedness, our Lady of the Rocks.

Rocks and Blue Nudes

Just decided to take a pic of the painting I am working on now and I picked the part that is pretty close to finished now,the upper left part. The title will not be "rocks and blue nudes",reserving the final title for later when the painting is done.
As usual,I encounter surprises and "contre-temps" (which in french would mean things that makes you waste time and leave you wondering),obstacles that are themselves going to be some unexpected springboards for some more inspirations. Those inspirations seem to take shapes for themselves like pieces of a puzzle and happen to fit each other in the whole final picture of the painting. So that's why you will find individual areas on the same surface of the paintings which will organically organize themselves into the whole of the painting.
Later on when I publish the "whole of the painting" you will get my drift...but for right now I am going back to painting,or rather drawing which will be hand,a hand of a special nature...
