New interpretation for a female presence who seems to spring out of some earlier times, before the celebrated Renaissance and with a decisive pagan air to her.Something about the rocks though, those I always admired in the Old Masters paintings (Giotto,Fra Angelico).Shes poses in a well-behaved,almost tamed manner but little-do-we-know her heart is so strong,it is made of stone, maybe the same material as the mountain of rocks behind her.
And her eyes are defiant as she unveils the secret of her Heart.
We don't know who she is.Her gaze is softly hidden by a pair of hands from the sky, holding some fleshy leaves that form her mask.
So well-hidden and yet so vulnerable in her profound nakedness, our Lady of the Rocks.
